Stargate Atlantis Storyline
This storyline outlines the activities of the team preceding the events of season 5. The writers include Callie and myself and anyone else who wishes to join the team. You may read the storyline or participate in the writing end. Enjoy!
*She let out a breath as she looked down at his hand. Why was she filling this way? Normally, his reaction wouldn't bother her. This time it was though... I've been hanging around Kira too long. A slight frown creased his brows. "Maybe we both need time to process it." John added as he lowered his hand. Callie didn't lift her eyes. Instead, shemovedaround to the side of the bed and gently sat down, running her hand through her hair. "Time." The captain said barely above a whisper. "What if time is something we don't have?" That caused his frown to deepen even more. "What makes you say that?" He leaned back a little and narrowed his gaze almost comically. "Do I need to get McKay to tone down his death rants?" Kelley scoffed and shook her head. "No...it's not him per say." "Then what? The Callie I know doesn't typically talk like that." She hesitated a minute before finally sighing and lifting her blue eyes to meet his hazel ones. A small smile tugged at her lips as she tried to shake off the negative feelings. "Never mind. It must be some after effects from the day. I'm still trying to control that new gift of mine after all."*
*John stared back at her, his eyes searching hers intently. He didn't buy her story completely but didn't push the issue. The day had been rough enough as it was and an argument was the last thing they needed. Callie finally broke eye contact after a moment, glancing down casually to check the time. "We'd better go." She said as she rose to her feet. "The briefing is supposed to start in 10 minutes." Sheppard followed her movements with his eyes but didn't budge. The captain made it to the door before noticing his immobility. Pivoting, she offered him a brief smile. "You coming?" He hesitated for a time, as if inthought, and then slowly nodded his head. "Yeah. I'd never hear the end of it if I didn't." Twenty-fine minutes later-- "We were at the gate when we took heavy fire." Colonel Sheppard began to wrap up his report to Woolsey. "I don't remember much at that point other than Ronon dragging Captain Kelley and myself through the gate. Later, we woke up on a completely different planet. The people's leader, Dezan, got us medical attention and threw a welcoming party of sorts." He paused and took a breath. "We dialed Atlantis as soon as we regrouped." Leaning back in his seat, John gave a slight wave of his hand. "And the rest you know."*
Ronon decided to turn in a bit early that night after working out a bit. He was uncharacteristically tired. He tossed and turned a bit before dropping off. He was startled awake when he felt a presence in his room. "Lights." Dim lights came on though he had not given that command. He stared at the young woman standing by his bed. She was the woman from before. Her long brown hair fell over her shoulders, large dark brown eyes seeming to penetrate him. "This is my room," he said, watching her. She moved towards the head of his bed, her movements smooth like a swan emerging from water. She wore a silver gown which conformed to the curves of her body. She reached out a hand andhegrabbed it. Her beautiful face did not show surprise. "What do you want?" he asked her before he woke up. Ronon sat up, a bit shaken at the realness of the dream. He usually never dreamt.
*"Colonel Mitchell," Mr. Woolsey called out when he spotted the younger man at the opposite end of the hallway. Cam hesitated for a second, turning to look at the IOA agent, before facing forward. Richard caught up to him a short time later. Straightening his shirt, he gave a small nod of greeting. "I have been looking for you." "Had my radio." Mitchell answered flatly. Woolsey gave him a look. "You weren't answering so I had to come find you myself." The expedition leader paused and then added, "I thought you'd like to know what time your departure to Earth is scheduled for."*
Kira awoke in her husband's arms. She yawned as she rested her head on the Atlantis standard issue pillow and looked up at him to see he was still sleeping. She didn't want to think about him leaving; she didn't want to think about having their child without him, or raising their son without him. She knew all these things would happen but she also knew she'd chosen this life. They both had. They knew the risks when they'd gotten married, and when she accepted the Atlantis assignment. She just hoped their children were grateful for their sacrifices instead of resentful.
*She lay awake in her room, staring up at the ceiling. Callie had tried to fall asleep but so far it had eluded her. Random stabs of emotions varying from joy to annoyance to something akin to sorrow bombarded her consciousness. Heaving a weary sigh, the captain swung her legs over the side of the bed and sat up. There was no use in trying to sleep with every feeling known to man playing pinocle with her heart. She sat there a moment, staring into space, before rubbing absently at her eyes and getting to her feet. It took just a few seconds for her to throw some clothes on and head out the door. Kelley always found wandering the halls of Atlantis at night a calming activity- one that usually cleared her head.*
When Kira drifted off to sleep Daniel decided to leave their quarters. He knew they couldn't stay much longer and found the prospect of once again being separated from his wife and unborn child difficult to contemplate and needed to walk. As he walked down the hall he ran into Teal'c, who inclined his head to him. "Hey, Teal'c," Daniel said, a bit tired. "Any word from about our departure?" Teal'c nodded. "Indeed. We are scheduled to depart tomorrow at 0800 hours." Daniel nodded bleakly.
*Callie heard familiar voices from around the bend. Taking the turn, she drew to a stop just behind Daniel. "I thought I heard you two." She quipped warmly as she tucked her hands in her pockets. Daniel pivoted to look at her, offering a tired smile while Teal'c inclined his head. "You are up late Captain Kelley." The Jaffa pointed out. Kelley scoffed lightly and nodded, running a hand through her hair. "Had some things on my mind. What about you two?" "I was just returning to my arranged domicile." Teal'c said as he bowed his head once more and casually strode away. Neither Daniel nor Callie saw the brief grin that lit his face. Daniel watched Teal'c leave before glancing back at the captain. "I had to get some fresh air." He replied after a hesitating a moment. Callie tilted her head to the side, giving him an intense expression. "Is that all?" Daniel nodded slowly. "Yeah."*
He stared into space as he walked down the hall, his mind distracted. Teyla came walking the opposite direction and stopped and frowned at him. "Ronon?" He stopped and looked up at her. "Hey Teyla." "Are you all right? You appear...distracted." "That's probably because I am," he said as he cleared his throat. She looked at him curiously. "Can I help?" He smiled a bit and shook his head. "Just need to stop thinking so much."
*The captain narrowed her eyes at him, folding her arms across her chest. "Okay, out with it." She said firmly. "There's nothing to let out." Daniel denied as he went to move past her. "I just needed to think." Callie didn't let him off the hook so easily. Turning, she stared at his retreating back. "That generally means you've got something to talk about." He continued on like he hadn't heard her. Kelley let out a quiet breath and moved to catch up with him. "Look," she began when she drew even with him. "I know a lot has been going on between you two lately." Daniel shot her a look and she offered a brief smile in return. "It's a 'gift'. Anyway, if you want to talk about it, I'll be out on the balcony near the mess hall. I've got to be on duty again in a few hours so I'll be up."*
a rather forceful kick awoke Kira. She put a hand to her head, realizing she didn't feel very well. She didn't want to get up and vomit. She just shut her eyes and willed the nausea to go away. another kick. "All right!" She sat up, a wave of dizziness overtaking her. She put a hand to her head. "What is it, for heaven's sake? Isn't it bad enough you woke me up..." She looked beside her and realized Daniel wasn't beside her. She grumbled to herself. "Daddy's busy." A gentler kick this time. She sighed. "Listen here...waker of sleep! He's not here. Just...go back to sleep or whatever it is you do..." She stopped talking as the nausea grew worse. She sat perfectly still, willing her stomach to settle down. She sighed and tossed the blankets off her and gingerly stood to her feet. She stood still a moment or so before reaching for the trashcan she kept by her head and vomited into it. She had to admit she felt a little better. She pushed it away from her and sat down on her haunches, leaning her head against the bed. She almost fell asleep when she felt another kick. "OMG...can I not get a few seconds rest?" After another gentle kick she realized in shock she was actually communicating with her unborn son and that he seemed to understand verbal words.
*Captain Kelley sat on the balcony and reveled in the nighttime breeze wafting in from the ocean. Of all the places on Atlantis, this was one of her favorite spots. It could be secluded or near everyone depending on the mood. This time though, she had company. A small smile pulled at her lips as she gazed at the moons above. "I was wondering if you were going to take me up on my offer." She joked, twisting in her seat so that she could see the archeologist standing in the door frame. He scoffed. "I almost didn't." Callie grinned at him and waved him over to the seat beside her. "Well I'm glad you did. We haven't actually talked in a while...Besides, I have a feeling we're not going to have long to talk." "What do you mean?" She shook her head slowly. "Never mind." Her blue eyes met his. "So what's been going on with you two? I've never seen you fight so much. I know that part of it had to do with that planet but some of it..." The captain shrugged at a loss for words. "I have no clue where it came from." Daniel leaned forward in his seat and looked out over the ocean solemnly- unsure of how to explain. He hated that Kira and he had been fighting so much, and he especially hated the fact that some of those fights had been public. "I'm not sure I know where it's coming from either." He began in a quiet voice. "It just seems like we're getting on each other's nerves lately and it ends up with us in a fight."*
Ronon turned a corner to see a beautiful woman standing in the middle of the corridor. For a few seconds he was speechless before aggravation began to mount. "Who the hell are you?" She took a few steps toward him and he found himself watching her move. She stopped in front of him, her dark eyes mysterious and searching. She reached out to him. "I am your destiny, Ronon..." she said softly but it seemed her voice was in his head and not verbal.
*Callie nodded her head understandingly, sitting quietly as Daniel spoke. "I know that she can be stubborn and that I can be the same way. It's one of the traits we share, especially if we're passionate about it." He sighed as he leaned back in his seat and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "I just...some of the things she does are unnecessary. How am I supposed to feel when she puts not only her life but the life of our unborn child in danger? I can't let it go and she wants to get mad at me over it." His eyes found the captain's. "I'm obviously doing something wrong." A small smile graced Callie's lips. Her gaze shifted lazily to the ocean below. She allowed a brief moment of silence to pass before speaking. "You're not doing anything wrong Daniel...and neither is Kira. The thing is that both of you have ideas of what is right and wrong. Sometimes they coincide and others not so much." Kelley cast a sidelong glance to him. "You have every right to worry about your wife and child. It's only natural. But you two need to learn to keep a balance- to trust that each other won't do something idiotic." The archeologist opened his mouth to interject but Callie cut him off. "I know what you're going to say Daniel. But let me ask you something...has Kira ever gotten into a situation that she couldn't get out of, with help or not, or that she didn't think through first?"*
"I don't even know who you are," Ronon said pragmatically. The girl just looked at him with big brown eyes he felt like he could drown inside of. Then she disappeared. He turned, frustrated. Had he finally gone out of his head? All those years running for the Wraith and he loses his mind in Atlantis...
*Jackson mulled over her words for a time. Finally, he shook his head slowly. "No...but she has gotten injured in some of those situations." Callie conceded his point with a nod. "That's a risk she takes just by being part of the SGC. You've experienced it yourself Daniel. No matter where she goes, what she does, or how prepared she is- there will always be room for a situation to go bad." A haunting look entered into the captain's eyes as she continued. "No matter how much we plan and prepare, it only takes the smallest overlook for something to go wrong. I know that Kira does her best to keep herself and your child alive and well so that you have someone." Daniel ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "Then how come it seems to be that she always gets hurt?" Kelley's blue-green eyes softened at the evident struggle going on within him. "It's life here. I could lie and say that it's possible for you to protect her from everything that this place throws at her but that's not possible. Do you think she doesn't feel the same way? She wants so much for you to be safe...for the two of you to raise your children together. I may be out of line telling you that but you need to know that."*
Kira walked the halls of Atlantis, talking to her unborn son in a way she could talk to few people. She shared with him her frustrations with her husband, herself and her job. She hoped they would always be close and that Brandt would always know how much she loved him. She walked to the mess hall. It would not have seemed special at all if it weren't for who she glimpsed just outside at the balcony, speaking to someone out of her sight. It didn't really matter. She leaned a hip and looked at her husband, the love of her life and the father of her children. When she was younger she'd prayed she would always make her husband happy and that she would always bring him joy. She knew she hadn't brought him joy lately but could not apologize for any decision she had made. She still wanted to make him happy though. But what if making her Daniel happy meant not doing what she felt was right?
*An odd sensation settled in the pit of her stomach. Callie knew that her time with Daniel was up, that there was more that needed to be said but not by her. Standing up, she stretched her hands above her head and looked down at him. "You two are meant for each other Daniel." She said warmly as he moved to stand also. "Don't let your fears about what could happen ruin the time y'all have together." With that, Callie patted him lightly on the shoulder and left the balcony.*
Kira noticed her friend walk from the balcony in a different direction where they wouldn't meet face to face and she smiled at her at times surprising tact. Kira walked up behind her husband to see him looking out at the water. he could be fully aware of her presence and waited for her to speak or he could be too involved in his own thoughts to notice. She hesitated only briefly before walking up behind him and wrapping her arms around his neck gently. He started a little but realized it could only be one person. He said nothing at first and she was grateful for his silence but sensed his tenseness, testimony of his remaining frustration. She kissed his cheek and shut her eyes. "Other people could see," he said quietly as she rested her chin on his shoulder. She knew he referred to her indefatigable propriety. "Let them see," she said softly. He said nothing more and they just sat in the near silence. She knew there were words that needed to be spoken but for those moments she just wanted to stand there and wrap her arms around her husband, with no words.
*She found herself meandering through Atlantis' corridors again. The morning shift was still an hour and half away, leaving her ample time to wander. The captain allowed her mind to roam about as she thought about everything yet nothing. Her blue-green eyes absently took in the similarly colored panels of the city. By now, she didn't have to see the various "landmarks"- as she had referred to them- of the hallways to know where she was within Atlantis. Callie could feel the familiarity of each place- the subtle differences in the everyday hum of the city that seemed to rumble just underneath the surface. Every once in a while there would be a new...note that would grab her attention. Sometimes she would follow it and other times she would ignore it for whatever reason. Tonight, however, there was a new note that wrapped around her mind. It was hard to describe the feeling but, if she had to put it to words, it was as if the city wanted to show her something. Kelley stopped her meandering and pivoted to look where Atlantis was urging her to go. "The personnel quarters?" She asked to thin air, her brow furrowed slightly. Why there? She mentally pushed back at the city.*
Kira pulled a chair closer to him and sat down, her hands folded between her knees and looked at the floor. "I was just talking to Callie." She nodded, looking up at him. "I know. I saw her." "How's the tike?" She looked down at her belly and laid her hands on it. "He was a bit feisty earlier."
*Callie felt the city gently push back at her mind. The sensation she got was like that of a mother urging her child to seek out a surprise. Her lips curved down in a small frown. As much as she liked surprises, she didn't really want to go down the residential wing. There were some...interesting emotions coming from there. The captain had deciphered one as being from Ronon- those of confusion and disquiet- and another from Sheppard, though she had chosen not to delve into that one. Others she had pushed aside completely. And now the city wanted her to go down there? Where the emotions would be stronger and harder to ignore? Captain Kelley voiced as much inside her head. Still, Atlantis pressed back with an even firmer hand. She stood there for a few minutes in a sort of tug-of-war with Atlantis. It was clear that the city wanted to lead her somewhere and, unlike previous times, it didn't like her back-talk.*
Ronon tried to sleep again but couldn't stop thinking about the girl who kept appearing to him. As he drifted off to sleep he heard..."Ronon...I know your name, Ronon Dex. Great warrior of the Satedan people, tragically fallen by the Wraith. You are the only living survival of that passionate, war-torn people. Your doubt make it difficult for me to appear to you. Just listen, just listen, my Satedan warrior..."
*After a bit more of a struggle, Callie finally relented in her rebellion. She let out a weary sigh and ran a hand through her hair. "All right." The captain muttered under her breath. "You win but this can't take long. Sheppard'll put me on latrine duty if I'm late for duty." Captain Kelley felt the firmness in the city's hold on her mind ease away until the gentle urging from earlier was all that was left. Callie shot an annoyed glance at the nearest wall. Taking in a deep breath, she picked up her casual stroll and took the hallway leading to quarters. The odd note never faded as she rounded turn after turn and passed door after door. Some of the doors she recognized as the quarters of fellow military while others she knew had to be for scientists. At one point, the city had taken her straight passed McKay's room and then by Teyla's. Now she was drawing up on Kira's quarters. Can't be there. Callie thought, remembering the balcony where she had left her friend and her husband. Sure enough, the unfamiliar hum continued past there and sent her down yet another corridor.*
As they walked down the corridor Kira felt her husband slip his hand into hers. She looked down at it as he looked into another direction. He rarely exhibited open affection in public. Not that she minded. After the last day or so she welcome any kind of affection.
*After a few more turns, Callie was starting to wonder if the city was taking her on a wild goose chase. She had expected to be at her destination by now. There were only 2 dozen rooms left before she ran out of personnel quarters. Then it would be straight out to the lesser inhabited parts of the city. Atlantis apparently sensed her frustration because the captain felt a small twinge as if saying "Be patient." With a roll of her eyes, Callie blew out a breath and pressed on. She was on her 2nd to last corridor when the hum changed directions yet again. This time however, it shot straight towards a very familiar looking door. "Seriously?" Captain Kelley asked out loud, staring in disbelief at the ceiling. A silent urging gave her the answer to her question. "I don't think he wants to talk to me right now." She said in almost a whisper as she shifted her gaze to the shut door.*

ReplyDelete"I don't even know who you are," Ronon said pragmatically. The girl just looked at him with big brown eyes he felt like he could drown inside of. Then she disappeared. He turned, frustrated. Had he finally gone out of his head? All those years running for the Wraith and he loses his mind in Atlantis...
ReplyDelete*Jackson mulled over her words for a time.
ReplyDeleteKira walked the halls of Atlantis, talking to her unborn son in a way she could talk to few people.
ReplyDelete*An odd sensation settled in the pit of her stomach.
ReplyDeleteKira noticed her friend walk from the balcony in a different direction where they wouldn't meet face to face and she smiled at her at times surprising tact.
ReplyDelete*She found herself meandering through Atlantis' corridors again.
ReplyDeleteKira pulled a chair closer to him and sat down, her hands folded between her knees and looked at the floor. "I was just talking to Callie." She nodded, looking up at him. "I know. I saw her." "How's the tike?" She looked down at her belly and laid her hands on it. "He was a bit feisty earlier."
ReplyDelete*Callie felt the city gently push back at her mind.
ReplyDeleteRonon tried to sleep again but couldn't stop thinking about the girl who kept appearing to him.
ReplyDelete*After a bit more of a struggle, Callie finally relented in her rebellion.
ReplyDeleteAs they walked down the corridor Kira felt her husband slip his hand into hers. She looked down at it as he looked into another direction. He rarely exhibited open affection in public. Not that she minded. After the last day or so she welcome any kind of affection.
ReplyDelete*After a few more turns, Callie was starting to wonder if the city was taking her on a wild goose chase.
